Anne McKay

Ms. McKay received her Bachelor of Arts in English and Philosophy and her Master of Arts degree in English from MacMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. She has been teaching English as a Foreign Language in Greece for twenty years, twelve of which have been at the Technical University of Crete. Her interests and professional activities are in the area of autonomy and language learning, particularly in the field of materials design and Information Technology in language learning.

Stella Psaroudaki

Ms Psaroudaki received her Bachelor of Arts in English and Literature (specialization in Translation) from the National Kapodistrian University of Athens. During her studies, she was awarded a scholarship from the Institute of State Scholarships (I.K.Y.) for six months. She received her Masters of Science in Natural Language and Cognitive Science (“Generating Greek Pronouns: a Centering Approach”) from the University of Edinburgh. She has taught English as a Foreign Language at the Technological Educational Institution (T.E.I.) in Piraeus, at the Institute of Vocational Training for Paramedics (I.E.K. E.K.A.B.) and at private language centres. She has also done technical translations for the BBC and National Geographic. Moreover, she has designed natural language algorithms. Her interests include: Computer Assisted Language Learning, Natural Language Processing, Autonomous Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Foreign Languages.

Anna Vrouvaki
Anna Vrouvaki was born in Germany (Aachen). She lived there (Aachen – Bonn) until she was fourteen years old. She received her Bachelor of Arts in German Language and Literature (specialization in Literature) from the National Kapodistrian University of Athens. She graduated with a first class standing. During her studies, she was awarded a scholarship from the Institute of State Scholarships (I.K.Y.) for three years. She also studied German Language and Literature at the University of Bonn on scholarship from DAAD. She obtained her Master of Arts from the Hellenic Open University. Her thesis is titled: “Autonomous Learning and use of authentic texts in teaching the German language”. From 1992 to 2001 she worked as a German teacher at the Goethe-Institut in Chania. During her cooperation with the Goethe-Institute she acted as an examiner for all German certificates. She continues as an examiner for the Goethe Institute in Athens. She has taught German as a Foreign Language from 1994 – 2004 at the Technological Educational Institute of Crete / Branch of Chania (T.E.I.). There she was also in charge of the Leonardo Da Vinci programme for many years. Since November 2001, she has been teaching German at the Technical University of Crete. Her professional interests include Autonomous Learning.

Magda Mantonanaki

Ms. Mandonanaki, received her Proficiency in English from Cambridge University in 1989 and has been working at the Technical University of Crete since 1990; her experience provides the centre with invaluable support.
